NEO Sierra Club Group Coal & Energy Committee Can Use Your Help!

First

Visit us at EarthFest this Sunday, April 21, from 10 AM – 5 PM. One of the the things we are going to be doing at the Sierra Club booth is asking people to sign letters to the President reminding him of the role that we in the environmental movement played in his 2012 victory and asking him to veto the Keystone XL pipeline project.

To give extra force to the letters – which we will collect and mail in – we are asking any of you who have spare paraphernalia from the campaign (buttons, stickers, etc.) to donate them to this activity. I can attest that this was a very potent part of the sit-in in front of the White House in August 2011, where many of those arrested were wearing buttons and t-shirts from the 2008 campaign. Donate only those items you are willing to part with, because they will not be coming back to you.

Second

I just visited the 350.org web site and they report that we currently have sent to the State Department approximately 718,000 comments opposing the Keystone XL pipeline. That means we are almost 3/4 of the way to the goal of 1 million comments by the deadline, which is April 22nd. So if you have been procrastinating on this, procrastinate no longer. The web site for comments is here.

Do it today. Do it tonight!

Thank you,

Randy Cunningham
