Please join us on March 31, 2015 at the Beachwood Community Center from 6:30pm – 8:00pm as we host acclaimed environmental author, Anita Sanchez. Ms. Sanchez will be speaking on her book “Teeth of the Lion: The Story of the Beloved and Despised Dandelion.”
The book quotes: ‘Thirty million acres of the United States are now lawns, and an estimated eighty million pounds of pesticides are used on them annually….Americans today spend forty billion dollars annually on lawn care.’ This barrage of chemicals and ‘perfect’ lawn attitude is polluting our waterways and putting our health at risk. In this program, Ms. Sanchez will talk about what is the proper perspective on the home landscape, how to redefine your lawn and landscaping attitudes, and teach us how to keep our water clean by reducing chemicals we use on our lawn.
Copies of her book will be sold for $5 and Ms. Sanchez will sign the book. Soil testing kits and other giveaways will be provided. Attendees also have a chance to win a basket of lawn care items from Good Nature Organic Lawn Care.
Event is free but registration is required by calling Mary at 330/722-9322 or maungst@medinaco.org by March 20th.
